Scope of Works

Steelink were retained to achieve the following outcomes for the project:

  • Expediting the progress and quality of approximately 800 tonne of SMP coal infrastructure from the NSW and QLD steel fabriactors to the mine site
  • Expediting the progress and quality of mechanical packages from the NSW and Victorian vendors to the mine site
  • On site preparation of mechanical safe work maintenance procedures for all plant and equipment in the coal handling facility, completed under the direction of the mine manager

Project Specifics for Airly Coal - Coal handling, crushing station and train load out facility

This multidisciplinary project involved the design and construction of a rail loop and materials handling conveyor system to transport coal from the Airly Mine to the train loading bin and connecting to the NSW freight rail network.

The scope of works included:

  • trackwork for the conveyor system
  • three conveyors
  • crushing station
  • skyline tripper
  • stockpile pad
  • reclaim tunnel
  • rail load-out bin

Laing O'Rourke's rail team designed and constructed the rail loop including the turnout from ARTC mainline and will instigate bulk earthworks for the rail loop and materials handling system.

The system allows the transportation of 1800 tonnes of coal per hour, providing Centennial Coal with greater efficiencies.
